The 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season casts its shadow, but before the season opens on April 13-14 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, NASCAR’s official championship in Europe is offering another opportunity to join the series as a driver. The 2024 Drivers Recruitment Program will return on February 29 – March 1 at the Circuits de Vendée in France. All types of drivers from around the world are welcome to apply for the program, travel to Fontenay Le Comte and have a chance to win a scholarship for the 2024 NWES season.

The DRP is the best way to join the series and pilot its pure racing 400 hp V8 cars without any electronic aids. Mastering the 4-speed H-pattern shifter is another challenge inside the 1,225 kilogram race car that reaches speeds of up to 245 kilometers per hour. Many successful drivers in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series found their way to the series and the numerous top teams in Europe through the DRP and the scholarships helped them to kickstart their rookie seasons.

One of the drivers was Vladimiros Tziortzis, a EuroNASCAR 2 title contender and NWES veteran who was already involved in racing and needed a change in his career: “After participating in Formula 4 North Europe in 2016 and 2017 and Formula Renault Eurocup in 2018, it was an extremely strange year for the whole island of Cyprus with the financial crisis and Covid starting in 2019. As a result, the sponsorship was not enough to participate in the Formula categories. Therefore, in the middle of 2019, I was looking online for programs that would give drivers the opportunity to get scholarships in recognized championships,” said Tziortzis.

“Then I saw the EuroNASCAR article and applied for the DRP. During the test day at Fontenay Le Comte, I was selected as one of the drivers to receive support for my 2020 EuroNASCAR full-season program. Basically, EuroNASCAR saved my career at an extremely difficult time. I was ready to quit at that point. Being backed by EuroNASCAR, a championship that is sanctioned by NASCAR and also the FIA, starting in 2020 was a game changer. The series gives its drivers the opportunity to race in the USA – even more than open wheel championships do today. I’m happy today to be part of this wonderful family that gives its drivers so many opportunities on their way to NASCAR in the USA.”

Two-time EuroNASCAR PRO race winner Tobias Dauenhauer also joined EuroNASCAR by participating in the DRP: “EuroNASCAR’s Drivers Recruitment Program is the perfect opportunity to get in a NASCAR car and get the experience of driving and doing some laps. You also have the chance to earn a scholarship to build your career in NASCAR, so it’s the perfect opportunity to take that next step.” The driver of German racing team Bremotion was a two-time runner-up in EuroNASCAR 2 during his career and scored two race wins in the EuroNASCAR premier championship in 2023, when the organization made its debut in the series.

In 2023, Nick Schneider debuted with Marko Stipp Motorsport in EuroNASCAR 2. It was a campaign for the German-Brazilian that would never have happened without the DRP: “The NWES Drivers Recruitment Program was crucial to my entry in the series, it allowed me to test the car and show my skill in a good environment. The best drivers get support from the NWES and I was fortunate enough to be one of those drivers. All in all, it’s a great program to give drivers that are interested in the series a taste of what it’s like.”
